Major Edward Ouellette Junior assumes command of the 143d Force Support Squadron during a ceremony held at Quonset Air National Guard Base, North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Major Edward Ouellette Junior assumed command of the 143d Force Support Squadron (FSS) during a ceremony held at Quonset Air National Guard Base, North Kingstown, Rhode Island on Saturday of the June 2017 regularly scheduled drill (RSD). Major Ouellette's father, retired Lieutenant Colonel Edward Ouellette Senior is the former commander of the Force Support Squadron. Airman First Class Dylan Ouellette, 143d Maintenance Squadron, Major Ouellette's son, served as the master of ceremonies for the event. The family has a combined total of 68 years of dedicated service mostly served with the 143d Airlift Wing.

The Rhode Island Disaster Medical Assistance Team volunteers each year to assist the Rhode Island National Guard Open House and Air Show ensuring safety and well being of all of the attendees. Additionally, members of the 143d Airlift Wing Medical Group work with the DMAT team training for their real world mission. Airmen from the 143d Airlift Wing's Maintenance Group, Operations Group and Logistics Readiness Squadron work together to plan and complete the offload of a detached C-130 wing from the back of a C-130J using the Combat Offload Method B technique.
