David Buckley, son of the late LtCol (ret) David Buckley, was sworn in as a UPT candidate here at the Quonset Air National Guard Base, on Saturday, 6 December 2008. David is proudly following in his father's footsteps.

LtCol Buckley, who flew with the 143d Airlift Wing for many years, passed away earlier this year. We are certain he would be very proud of his son's decision to join the 143d Operations Group.

David was sworn in on Saturday in the Operations building by LtCol Arthur Floru, Commander of the 143d Operations Support Flight and fellow pilot. LtCol Floru is also a long time friend of David's late father. After his oath David paused to take a picture with is mother, Leslie Buckley and Col Ed Johnson, former C-130 Navigator, 143d Airlift Squadron (AS), LtCol Rick Hart, pilot, 143d AS, LtCol Arthur Floru, pilot, 143d Operations Support Flight Commander, and LtCol Gary Larson, pilot, 143d AS, all long time friends and co-workers of LtCol Buckley.

Welcome to the 143d family, David!
