CMSgt Chief Master Sergeant Gregory Houghton

Chief Master Sergeant Gregory Houghton is the Command Chief Master Sergeant, 143d Airlift Wing, Quonset State Airport, North Kingstown, Rhode Island. The 143d Airlift Wing is comprised of 11 squadrons and over 1,000 military and civilian personnel. The Wing is also responsible for the support of one Geographically Separated Unit, the 282d Combat Communications Squadron. He is the principal senior enlisted advisor to the commander on matters affecting mission readiness through morale, quality of life, utilization, health and welfare of the Wing’s enlisted forces.

Chief Houghton enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1981. His first assignment was with the 608th Military Airlift Command Ramstien Air Base, Germany where he served as a crew chief in the isochronal inspection dock on T-39 aircraft. His next duty assignment was at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska where he worked as a flightline crew chief also on T-39 aircraft. His final active duty assignment would take him to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina as a crew chief on the F-4E Phantom aircraft. 

He joined the 143d Maintenance Squadron, Rhode Island Air National Guard in 1989 as an Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) mechanic. He later went on to work as a Quality Assurance Inspector, AGE Superintendent, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Supervisor and finally served as the Maintenance Operation Flight Superintendent. Chief Houghton assumed duties with the 143d Airlift Wing staff in January of 2016 where he serves as the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the Wing.
