Quonset Fire Professionals Perform Joint Training Published Sept. 29, 2016 By Master Sgt Janeen Miller and Technical Sgt Sage Maker 09/29/2016 -- Chicopee, Massachusetts – Several military and civilian members of the Quonset Fire and Rescue Team participated in a live fire exercise with members of the 103d Airlift Wing, Connecticut Air National Guard, at Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts. This joint training exercise was an opportunity for the Airmen to become one cohesive team. “Everyone knows how to fight fire. We all fight it in the same way,” said Senior Master Sergeant Todd Mullane, Quonset Fire Chief, “this is an opportunity to actually go through those techniques and really reinforce how we fight fire when we fight fires together.” The exercise incorporated scenarios of both internal and external aircraft fires. The internal scenarios included fires in the cab and cargo area. The external scenarios focused on battling extreme blazes from the engine, wheel well, and fuselage. The live fire exercise is part of an annual training requirement for the Quonset Fire Department team.
